Golden pears trained towards the heavens, Welkin has set about its war campaign since the age of 2017 and has slowly developed over these years a unique epic melodic black metal audial assault of which those heroes of yore it so venerates would be proud to march to. At the helm of Welkin is one prodigal spellsmith known only as Hasthur, who began Welkin at the tender age of 14, displaying a penchant for black sonic sorcery from his earliest works; yet it would not be until Welkin’s latest incantation, Emblems of Valour, that arguably Welkin’s greatest work was to be unchained. Maintaining a truly monumental scope from the first note, Emblems of Valour is a dedication to the oath of the peach gardens, one that features a host of infectious guitar melodics, blistering blast beats, thrash power inflections, heroic black howls, epic historical thematics, extensive spell runtimes, and a clear and polished production in which all forms of these glories can best be perceived.
