They've made me understand exactly what it means to play in a way that creates genuine despair and profound sadness. They truly manage to tear you apart with abrasive riffs and drenchful melodies that move you viscerally. Depressive black metal nightmares from one of China’s earliest black metal entities, BE PERSECUTED have returned after many ages for one of their most despondent, devastating and desolating incantations to date, III, in which the sounds of memories forlorn wait for a return that will never come as eyes ever look backward upon that which yesterday has forever taken away.

Brought into heartbreaking existence back in the age of 2005, BE PERSECUTED is a Chinese depressive black metal entity that builds an impressive library of moribund and morose incantations over their almost two-decade long existence. “III” is the latest of these incantations in almost ten years and is their most perhaps most well realised, dedicated and dejected outing to date - taking that which came before and elevating those concepts and sounds into new heights of introspective isolation. Awash with a tear-stained coalescence of howling vocal regrets, sparse percussive sorrow, heartbreaking tremolo melodies, shambling spell length, bittersweet reflective thematics, refined incantation construction and a reverb-soaked clarity of production, “III” is a truly outstanding return to the world of the living from BE PERSECUTED, marking that which has past and that which can never be, a swansong for an age cast into the blackest clouds cast by swirling dirt-stained fingertips.

NONE a opéré un virage dans Where Life Should Be et ça se confirme davantage dans Damp Chill of Life. Le temps des métaphores est révolu : l'humidité froide, c'est celle des larmes qui coulent sur le visage à cause de la dépression. Tout pleure dans cet album : les guitares typées DSBM grésillent, les solos ("The Damp Chill of Life", "It's Painless To Let Go") sont liquides et coulent, les voix prennent à la gorge ; même le piano, étranglé par les sanglots ("Cease"), est aphone.
