Soil 035: BRYTHO:NUMEN (And) - "The Wessex Mistery Transmissions" Pro Tape

BRYTHO:NUMEN IS A TRINITY OF THE AGARGIAN SPIRIT UNEARTHED FROM THE DARKEST STRETCHES OF THE TILLED EARTH SOIL.

Neo folk dark ambient ministrations from the fabled coalition of the Wessex Mistery that hark forth the communal gatherings of mortal man across the horizon of earthen stone made by medium of cruellest cassette tape upon the summer of 2022.

Unearthed and realigned by the grand hands of Perennial Pyrenees, BRYTHO:NUMEN is a wonderful collection of three EP incantations and a agrarian folk zine all created in 1990 by a rural agrarian commune by hail of the Wessex Mistery. These incantations were once only available to those trusted keepers of the Wessex Mistery and those who sought to live by the essence of its making—harking back to the ancient techniques of agriculture and folklore revival. Now these secrets of hedgerow chorus and experimental folk have been resurrected in true physical artefact sorcery, the yeoman majesty of Under the Dark Soil bringing these sylvan sorceries to acolytes in a true collection of bucolic yoke.

The first of these incantations is that of the Dark Shepard’s Dale, whose fen magick hails from craggy Dartmoor, and whose sounds evoke a haunting array of dark ambient spells. Those spells of the darkest spoken prose and oppressive atmosphere that bring the Neolithic tombs, ruined stone circles and abandoned mediaeval farmhouses to the fore of the listeners mind.

The second of these incantations is that of the Harvest Hare, whose reap of roam hails from the rolling hillsides of the Cotswolds, and whose sounds summon a splendour of organic electronica. These hark forth a bright world of warped acoustic guitar, natural sound sample and spoken word collage that transport those experiencing its sorcery to a land of golden limestone.

The third of these incantations is that of the Wyvern’s Crown, whose weald wizardry hails from the clay caked loam of Winchester, and whose sounds sing true an acoustic medley of neofolk guitar spells. These evoke a golden soundscape of mournful melodies, sombre poetic prose and serene vastness that envelopes the listener in a tapestry of fuller’s earth and whispered dreams.

Limited to 50 cassette sets in spread of the wyverns wings and the darkest of dales. Available in transparent and dark smoke variants respectively, and first 25 copies come with a reprinted issue of the Wessex Mistery journal “The Hedgerow Chorus”.
